This school has problems. There are about three different schools in the building and the principle in charge of the building refuses to take responibility for any negative that happens. The PA and the administration are always looking for ways to undermine each the other.

I teach at this school and it is a mess. They did away with having one teacher per class. the poor kids have a different teacher for every subject. The teachers don't spend enough time with the students to get to know them. It's tough for the teachers too, as we must run up and down the halls and stairs,

My son attends this school and he and his class mates is in the 6th grade. He witnessed a shooting right outside the school while he was in the school playground 2 months ago. The school did not notify the parents with neither letter nor phone call and this is by far the most traumatic experience a child
... Read more can endure.Parents & teachers meetings should also take place more often. The teachers are excellent and so are the staff. The principal is great but the school shouldnt have to hide what goes on in the community. Safety awareness a must. Read less

As a parent of a former student I was very pleased with the level of achievement my child achieved while attending PS 30. Now my children both attend college and are doing extremely well. My children were always high achievers and continue to be goal orientated because they developed very good study
... Read more habits and a value for education. I do know that the school has faced some very difficult times, mainly because of conflicts between staff and parent, and with past administrators. However, with the present administation in place the school is making a come back, and the quality of teaching has greatly improved. Parents can contribute PS 30's success by becoming actively involved and supportive and not combative. We need to be partners in our child's education for their own success past, present and future. * In 2006-2007 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, in grades 4 and 8 in science and in grades 5 and 8 in social studies. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level.
