The school is challenging and the teachers are very knowledgeable in their area of knowledge. If one has trouble with an assignment the teachers would most likely make an appointment to help the student out (if not right after class). My son chose this school over Bronx Science and Stuyvesant based upon the overall size. The school fits the Specialized High School format in performance as well as expectations while remaining personal. He appreciates the small classes and that the teachers know him by name. This is a great school. We choose Math, Sciene and Engineering over Bronx Science because of the extensive math curriculum and the smaller school and class size. * In 2005-2006 New York used the New York State Regents Examinations to test high school students in English language arts, math, global history and geography, US history and government, living environment, chemistry, earth science, physics and several foreign languages. The results for English language arts, math, living environment, chemistry, earth science and physics are displayed in GreatSchools profiles. Students must take at least five Regents Exams in order to graduate. Scores of 65 and above are passing; scores of 55 and above earn credit toward a local diploma (with the approval of the local board of education). The goal is for all students to pass the tests.
