junior high, and a new principal replaced the old one, everything seemed to go downhill. Many of the students began to lack in discipline and structure. Teachers were unable to control the students from doing simple things such as chewing gum. Also, the school began to see a mixture of good and bad teachers. I wouldn't exactly suggest sending your child to this school. St. Anastasia is not what it used to be. It is just another NYC public school with the exception that we wear a uniform and pay a tuition. Read less

I've been a student at St.As for 7 years. We have no music classes, and very little extracurricular activities. An academically focused school. 98% of the teachers have a masters degree from highly acredited schools. This school has a small student body so students are given individualized attention from both teachers and principal. More extracurricula activities needed.

Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
"Extended day" programs where the school day is extended before and after school to accommodate working parents. These programs should not be confused with common after school clubs or athletic activities.

Vocation/Technical Curriculum
Vocational and/or technical courses offered within a comprehensive school, usually a senior high school.
Special Education Classes
A school or program within a school that provides services and training to students with moderate to severe mental and/or physical disabilities.
Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
English as Second Language
English language classes for students whose first language is not English.
