While the school has good intentions and teachers that do care, it's hard to get around the fact that if your child is a top performer, he/she may want to 'dumb down' to avoid being the target of ridicule or even a target for senseless fighting. ... Read more an academic environment that addresses improvement, it can be found here, but for students that perform at the top of the pack,this school can be a sobering experience. Disciplinary policies are often formed 'off the cuff' as the occasion calls for it, instead of being an understood, printed, circulated standard that all are expected to maintain. That's only because many unexpected and disruptive events happen because of many of the students lack of drive or ambition. Bottom line: there are worse schools in brooklyn, but there are certainly better. Start your JHS selection process early!! Read less
* In 2006-2007 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, in grades 4 and 8 in science and in grades 5 and 8 in social studies. The 2006-2007 results for English language arts are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. Math results will be added after their release by the New York State Education Department. The tests are standards-based, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New York. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School

Adult Education Classes
Programs offering GED or equivalent courses for adults within regular schools, whether classes are held during evening or daytime schedules.
