The leadership at this school is horrible the principle does not respond to parents messages and the teachers are not too involving. The students basically do as they please including leaving the school building. the students have clicks and spend most of thier time on the hallways cutting. Good kids

This school was amazing. I graduated in June of 2006. I was in the M.I.T.A program and it was great. This school may seem to have a bad reputation but that year was the best. My daughter loved IS192 this year! She was challenged, respected, involved and protected! She saw very few incidences of fights or other and when something did happen it was handled quickly and harshly. Kids did not get away with much. Of course things were going to happen, its a large school with
... Read more many kids (11-14 i might add)but the school safety and Deans were always present keeping the rest of the children safe. My daughter, who was in MITA and her friends that weren't all worked hard to maintain their grades. They had a lot of projects and alot of tests and also alot of homework. There was parent involvement as in any school in the area, its the same parents that volunteer all the time, maybe you should ask yourself what YOU do for your childs school! I think that this school gave many chances that allowed the students to perform better than they had in the past. The teachers are great and show concern towards all the students and try very hard to educate them and keep them on their toes. Yes, the school has had its set backs but it's not attributed
... Read more to the lack of teaching. It's a lack of parent involvement. If parents took the time and placed their efforts in being apart of the schools PTA and where more involved the school would be just like all those 'ivy league' middle schools. The school has a lot to offer and it's up to the parents to take advantage of what it offers. Read less
* In 2006-2007 New York used the New York State Assessments to test students in grades 3 through 8 in English language arts and math, in grades 4 and 8 in science and in grades 5 and 8 in social studies. Advanced Placement
AP classes are college-level classes offered at the high school level. Once a student completes an AP class and passes a final comprehensive examination conducted by the College Board, the student earns college credit for the course. AP classes are specific and not to be confused with other higher-level classes such as honors classes.
Before/After School
